News from the team at BitFire Networks

May has been another exciting month at BitFire Networks.

BitFire is a complete, end-to-end solution for live broadcast and webcast productions of all sizes. We specialize in live event video production, internet streaming and TV broadcasting for events across the country. We’d love to share just a little bit about what we’re working on and introduce you to the people on our team who make the magic happen.

People Profile
Bob Sullivan: President & CEO
Just about anyone who has ever worked in television knows Bob Sullivan. He brings to BitFire a TV career that spans more than 4 decades. As a recognized industry leader, Sullivan’s roles include VP of Television, Gannett Broadcasting, President and General Manager, W*USA TV in Washington, D.C. and VP-Station Manager at KPNX-TV in Phoenix. Most recently, Sullivan oversaw the transformation of three new business lines as General Manager for Sneaky Big, a full production film studio and live production hub for CBS Sports, Turner Sports, the NFL Network, among others.
Prior to joining BitFire, Sullivan was SVP of Programming for TEGNA Media, overseeing new program development, market research, strategic planning, syndication acquisitions and business development. As VP of Programming for Scripps Television, Sullivan helped launch several original programs landing them in national syndication. He has owned his own marketing firm, Sullivan & Associates, and served as President of the Arizona Host Committee for Super Bowl XLII played in February of 2008 in Glendale, Arizona.
Jim Akimchuk: VP, Chief Technology Officer
Jim began his career more than 20 years ago as a production truck engineer, and that mindset has guided his work in developing specialized solutions for television professionals ever since. It was in the early stages of his career while working in Public Access television where funds were scarce and ingenuity and resourcefulness were paramount, that Jim developed his engineering style.
He carries that same drive and creativity into his role with BitFire. Jim has diverse backgrounds ranging from broadcast engineering, cybersecurity and software development, to public safety and dive rescue, and has a passion for bringing them together in new and creative ways to address seemingly insurmountable challenges. Jim thrives in any high-pressure environment, where he brings calm to the chaos by dropping into any scenario to help solve problems. Looking to the future of BitFire, it is Jim’s mission to never lose agility, maintaining and improving the organization’s ability to rapidly respond to any broadcast transmission or production challenge.

We value our partnership with Sports Video Group (SVG) in keeping the video production community informed on the latest trends in the industry.

Remote productions may have accelerated in the past year, but it’s the connectivity beneath the surface that has sports content creators churning out more live content than ever before.

SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand  video interviews, with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors.

In this edition, our very own Ben Grafchik, VP, Business Development of BitFire Networks shares how BitFire is empowering production professionals to contribute to live shows from all over the world.

BitFire was proud to be seated with the stars at the Academy Awards! We may not have taken home an Oscar (this year!) but we have a winning partnership with Holley Video Consultation! The tablets are open to a FireBridge link. "When it came down to the Oscars this year, we had a challenge where the stage was a little high. They wanted to put tablets in the house so people could do live viewing with low latency and get a great view of the stage. So I partnered up with a group I have been working with - BitFire - and we were able to make it happen with 30 Samsung tablets with 150-millisecond low latency delay and it was great, worked flawlessly. I can't say enough, how in such a short timeframe without the planning and with how well it worked. I was extremely surprised."
